TRI-COUNTY CONEWAGO CREEK ASSOCIATION MAY 29, 2002 MEETING, 7:00 – 9:00 PM MINUTES I. Welcome Matt Royer began meeting by welcoming everyone. II. Secretary's Report Erin McKinne presented a summary of the April 24th Meeting and May 15th Board of Directors Meeting Minutes III. Treasurer's Report $100.00 in expenses last statement (PA incorporation fee). Balance is $622.04. IV. Activities Report Lindsey Morris reported on the April 27th "Keep PA Beautiful" Roadside Trash Pickup. 13 bags of trash were picked up from end of South Hertzler Road. However, more trash is now present. Matt Royer reported on the May 11th Stream Cleanup. It was a great success; a large amount of junk was removed from the stream. However, more junk, including a refrigerator, was reported to be present at the dump area. Next activity: "Birdwatching Hike of the Conewago," Saturday, June 1st, 8:00 am (meet at the new entrance to the Lebanon Valley Rails to Trail in Colebrook, parking lot near the Twin Kiss) Will be led by Tom McKinne. A butterfly expert will also be present. V. Funding and Organizational Report WREN Grant (orientation meeting: June 13 & 14, Boiling Springs, Hal Royer will represent TCCCA). Projects include web site design, brochure development. See Kerry Royer if you would like to get involved in these projects Incorporation and 501(c)(3) Status: PA incorporation has been received. Marty Siegel still working on 501(c)(3) application. VI. Committee Reports Tom Murray reported on the landowner database. He still needs volunteers to search Dauphin and Lebanon County tax offices. See Hal Royer or Dan Helm if you are interested in volunteering. VII. New Business Director opening (one year term). Erick Smith has moved to Illinois, leaving a vacancy on the Board of Directors. If anyone is interested, see Matt. Eagle Scout Project: Nathan Gerard, Conewago Township. Nathan is planning either a "Snapshot" type activity or a stream clean up. Event will probably occur in July. Elizabethtown Source Water Assessment and Protection (SWAP) Presentation: June 12, 7:00 pm, Etown Borough Building. TCCCA members are encouraged to attend this meeting. Native Plants in the Landscape Conference, June 6-8, 2002, Millersville University. Call 872-3030 if you are interested in attending this conference. VIII. Guest Speaker: Dale Bentz, Gleim Environmental Group Dale Bentz of Gleim Environmental gave a very informative presentation on "What watershed groups need to know before beginning a stream restoration project." His presentation focused on Gleim's work on natural stream redesign projects. IX. Next Meeting June 26, 2002, 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m., at the Lawn Fire Company meeting room. 2
